Thanks, Don, for posting this. Unfortunately, Cosby has not stayed loud as he becomes an older guy. He hosted a Thelonius Monk tribute here in NYC recently. He rambled incoherently during the first set. After intermission, he was nowhere to been or, thankfully, heard. On the other hand, Ben Riley remains an inspirational Loud Old Guy. Loudness, it's not just about rock 'n' roll!
That's really too bad, Neil. Cosby used to be hilarious but I've seen some of his appearances lately and I agree he's definitely not nearly as sharp and off-the-wall as he used to be. And neither am I. :) I had his "I Started Out As A Child Album" when I was a kid and wore it out.
I didn't realize Ben Riley was still with us. Man, I'd like to see him.
I saw Cosby live in the 1960's at the Melodyland Theater (it was across the street from Disneyland before they tore it down) and his band was his opening act. He played the drums and sang a little. I was more into the Dave Clark Five then, so their hot jazz was lost on this callow youth. I just wanted to hear him talk about air. Thanks for the video.
